Heartbeat!

Oh my! Boy, was Jacqueline excited to hear the heartbeat! She wasn't sure what it was, and was asking questions about everything from the gel they use with the Doppler to the blood pressure read-out thingy, to the cup I peed in and some wipes too. She was so cute! At supper tonight she told Casey that she heard the heartbeat, and as usual, he was reading the newspaper and he just gave a generic "uh huh." I then had to get his attention and have her tell him again because she thought it was the coolest thing.
Well, the visit was very routine. I took both girls, but don't think I will be taking Leah again. She wasn't very good! I took Jacqueline to almost every one of my appts with Leah, and she was great, and that may have been because I always had a treat. But if Leah got treats, Jacqueline would want one too, so I decided not to take any. I have a friend who can watch Leah during future visits.
We got called back pretty quickly after arriving. I got weighed, 117 lbs., and then had my BP taken, which was 110/70. I had to pee in a cup again because they didn't do a urinalysis last time. Shortly after we got back to the exam room, Eryn, the doctor who delivered both girls, came in. We talked a little... one thing she was concerned about was the fact that I have "lost" 3 lbs since my last visit. I see that has highly unlikely, as I usually start gaining fairly quickly because I don't get much morning sickness. And since I started out at 112, being at 120 last time (7 weeks) is a big gain that early. So we came to the conclusion that this time I was there in the morning (after eating on breakfast) and last time I was there in the afternoon, and last time I wore my shoes for the weigh-in and I think I had a sweatshirt and jeans too, where this time I had a lightweight top and capris. AND when we talked about weight gain over the course of the entire pregnancy, there is nothing to worry about for me because I gained at least 40 lbs. with both girls.
Eryn asked if I wanted to try a VBAC, which is a vaginal birth after cesarean, and I said yes! She said (again!) that I would be a prime candidate for it since I had a successful vaginal birth with Jacqueline. She then said that we would just have to see how the pregnancy goes, and make sure in the end that baby is head down... which I definitely plan to do after Leah's incident!
Also, we learned that we don't have the opportunity to go 3 for 3 with Eryn. :( It was just the "luck of the draw" the last two times as their are 5 doctors (4 when I was prego with Jac) and each day a different one is on call. So she just happened to be the one both times. She is pregnant with baby 3 and due in September and will be on maternity leave until the middle or end of November, which is really exciting, but also a little sad because I thought it would be neat if we went 3 for 3 with the same doc. :)
Hearing the heartbeat was really neat. And she had to go really low to find it, so I think I am carrying this one differently (so maybe BOY?!), and that would be a reason for the low pain from hip to hip that I had for about 6 hours last Saturday night.
It was actually really exciting to hear the heartbeat. Jacqueline was on a chair, not really paying attention, until I asked her what we were hearing. Then she got really interested. Leah, on the other hand, was crying like crazy when Eryn started playing with the Doppler on my belly. It was kind of funny, sweet, and weird all at the same time. But she did have a good reason since she had no idea what was going on! :)

Sorry if this is a little long, but this is my journal for everything baby, and I want to make sure I remember everything. Also, it's the easiest way to share with everyone, especially because so many are so far away, and not forget something when we are chatting on the phone.
Also, I have decided to take a picture yet, as my friend Kari, who's little girl is one month old today!, didn't really think I could consider my belly as "showing" yet. So, we will try again in another couple weeks.

Showing for sure!

Well, mostly... especially by the end of the day. I can tell all the time, but right away in the morning you can't tell for sure, but by late morning, everyone is able to tell. I was thinking tonight that maybe we should take a pic, but I think I am going to wait until next Tuesday, 11 weeks, after we go to the doctor. I'm not in maternity clothes yet, and I think with the way things are going, I will be in my regular pants for a while, but will definitely have to start wearing maternity shirts in the next couple weeks - my other ones aren't quite long enough. I find myself wearing t-shirts a lot, and sometime of sweatshirt (regular or zip-up) which helps disguise things.
One of my day care families knows, but the other two do not. Not sure when I am going to tell them, because I've been able to disguise it so far, I think. Maybe I will wait until 12 weeks.... on that note, that reminds me, I really need to get a picture of the girls taken. I want to take a pic of them for a card to send out as a way of telling everyone who doesn't already know. Kind of a "Christmas in April/change of address/we're having a baby!" card. And I want to go this weekend and get a family picture so we have a family pic with Leah, because we don't have one yet. Which I am really kicking myself for because she is 17 months, but we only have done one with Jac at birth and then at 18 months. So, I guess I need to stay on the ball and get family pictures taken once a year.

I guess that's all for today. Be looking for an update mid-week with a picture. And hopefully a tentative date on when the cards will be mailed out. This is the longest I have gone without sharing the news with the whole world! :)
